Austin Award Program Honors the Achievement

AUSTIN August 8, 2013 -- World Opus Technologies, Inc has been selected for the 2013 Austin Award in the Computer Related Services category by the Austin Award Program.

Each year, the Austin Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Austin area a great place to live, work and play.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2013 Austin Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Austin Award Program and data provided by third parties.

We are Austin, TX based professional services company and have dedicated our last 19 years providing IT infrastructure monitoring and automation services to data centers nationwide.

We approach each project based on our successful experience but with renewed focus on the unique requirements of your data center including people, products, processes, and SLAs.  We do not follow 'textbook' approach. Our ability to listen, learn, advise and brainstorm makes each project a 'customized' and well collaborated success. We focus on minimizing total cost of ownership including hardware, software licenses, future upgrade, and day-to-day operations staff requirements while meeting your requirements.

Our Differentiators

  1. Our journey in IT monitoring started in R&D of system monitoring software.  Our insight product knowledge created a solid foundation for us to develop custom code that bridges the gaps between customer requirements and the features of off-the-shelf IT monitoring software. For example, in State Farm data center, we developed a custom solution to continuously deploy updated script files to all servers in the enterprise automatically.
  2. We understand the end-to-end process of modern data center operations internally and we can integrate various standalone solutions into one seamless and automated process. For example, in USDA data center, we integrated customized CI attributes from CMDB with event management process and then with incident management process to automatically assign each incident ticket to either data center support staff or the PaaS customer based on CI attributes.
  3. Our approaches are operations-focused and data-driven that minimizes manual work and eases future upgrade. For example, in Texas HHSC data center, we implemented a GUI scheduler to automatically turn off incident creation flow when their cloud-based incident management software is under maintenance.
  4. We have strong background on the infrastructure components being monitored - which helps us extend the monitoring features from the off-the-shelf monitoring software. For example, in USDA data center, the off-the-shelf monitoring software can only partially monitor Oracle Exadata database. Through collaboration with DBAs, we were able to add custom code to provide full monitoring on Exadata.
  5. When we work on day-to-day data center operations, we don't just troubleshoot issues and fix them for the moment. We document the findings and create future projects for automatic root cause detection and other improvements in monitoring.
  6. Our project management is closely synchronized with our project work. Risk management is one of our top priorities. We have experience with both Agile and Kanban approaches.
